Puri, 15/08: A 75-year-old devotee who had come to Puri from Jajpur to have darshan of Lord Jagannath fell ill and died at the temple. The deceased is Nilakantha Das. His father's name is Dhaneshwar Das and his wife's name is Minti Das. His house is in the Alarpur area under Jajpur police station. He had been living near Chandini Market, Dharamatala, Kolkata for more than 25 years.

According to information, Nilakantha had come to the temple for darshan with his wife at around 11 am today. While the darshan was going on outside, he was doing darshan near the hundi when he suddenly collapsed. His wife Minti Das informed that there was a large crowd while he was doing darshan with the help of a panda near the Garuda pillar.

According to Minti, Nilakantha had previously suffered from heart problems. He alleged that he suffocated in the crowd. After the incident, the police immediately rescued him and admitted him to the Puri Sadar Main Hospital. The doctor declared Nilakantha dead there.

After the death of her husband, wife Minti is completely devastated. It is revealed that Nilakantha was the sole breadwinner of the family. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over Nilakantha's family.
