Today is the holy Rukmini Harana Ekadashi. This day has special significance in the Sri jagnanath culture. According to the Jagannath Culture, on this day, Lord Krishna kidnapped and married the Vidarbha princess Rukmini. Remembering this tradition, the divine wedding ceremony of Lord Jagannath and Maa Rukmini is celebrated in Srikshetra Puri.
In the temple, the Sevayat performed the marriage ceremony amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. Special attire, flower arrangements and various rituals were performed for Lord Mahaprabhu. Thousands of devotees were seen gathering in the temple premises. The devotees experienced spiritual joy after witnessing the divine wedding ceremony of Lord Mahaprabhu.
The tradition of various Rath Yatras of Shri Jagannath begins from the day of Ekadashi, the day of the abduction of Rukmini. Therefore, this day is considered to be very sacred and significant in the culture of Shri Jagannath.
